Topic 1.1.6: Wonderware MES Architecture and licensing
MES Architecture
The below figure shows an example of a hardware configuration that includes all available hardware that can be deployed in a Wonderware MES environment. It is not a minimum configuration. Different options for combining servers should be considered, including the Virtualization of servers.
The Database Server and Middleware Server components can be on the same computer, but typically for larger systems, they will be in separate computers.
MES Licensing
MES license depends upon the entities that can schedule or run jobs,In the MES database, ENT table, if can_run_jobs or can_schedule_jobs are true, it counts against the MES Operations license count.
MES consists of multiple components that are licensed based on functionality and equipment counts. Clients are also licensed with various options. Because of this complexity, you should contact your local distributor to get a full understanding of the options.
