Exercise 3-Office Shift Project Plan
-
OBJECTIVE OF THE PROJECT: "OFFICE SHIFTING PROJECT PLAN":
Scenario:
You are the Senior Manager of an International Management Consulting Firm - with 100 employees.
Due to growth in your business, you want to shift your office to a new location - which offers better central business location, more seating capacity, less commute - and better facilities.
Moving your office or business can be a challenge for anyone, the key to success is preparation. There are many tasks involved and you want to make a plan.
You want to create a plan such that there is:- Zero or minimum disruption to the Business of your company.
- Involvement from all departments - through systematic communications, task allocations and co-ordination
- All necessary tasks have to be completed - approvals, financials, interior designing, documents, networking, legal, security
The WBS tasks are kept as generic as possible to be applicable to most business domains and geo-locations. Your own case might vary slightly - and if so, it will be great to discuss the impact on your project plan - in the discussion area of the course. For example, extra regulations, machine installations, waiting periods etc.-------------------------------------------------
DESCRIPTION:

The WBS / Task list - notes
- This is available in a separate Excel file "WBS for Project 3 - Office Shift Project Plan.xls".
- The best practice is that you should do this in multiple iterations and involve the people who will do the actual work - or who have the expertise in the area.
- I have applied more iterations to the task list - to sort both by a chronological order - and ALSO "work by department"
- Finally, I have also included task duration - to demonstrate Microsoft Project's intelligence in copying this over to the project file. -
